WEEK 3
Basic lay out of the portable classroom. the entry is seperate so there is no disturbing of classes fron outside nioses. doors will have glass viewing pannels to minimise distractions. Entrance to each classroom is at the back of thr room also to minimise distractions with the office and computer areas located at the front of the class for teachers convieniance. Our tean has focused our portable classroom on the early highschool classes which means our rooms must cater for a variety of subjects and activities. my design has also included ramps and stairs for easy acces under an extended roof for shelter at the front of the building.

For the exterior i wanted to put a new spin on the existing materials as in the lecture Mark gave it proved the thermal ratings for the portables to be adequate so i stayed with the steel frame, the sloped roof is at an angle so that the PV roof system was at an optimum degree. The entrance protrudes out to give a seperate entrance to the main rooms.

a rear elevation showing the roof and skylightsA section of the building showing the natural ventilation system. I was thinking about the concern of dry dusty areas these portables are often placed in himdering the ability to open windows so i used the stack effect bringing the air in throught the bottom of the building drawing the hot air out and in winter roof vents are closed and entering air is heated.
Two images of the adjustable shutters showing thier ability to direct the sun and heat into the building and also their ability to keep the hot mid summer days heat out.

As the skylights light the main rooms i was looking for a way to light the centre rooms. I stumbled across the fibre opic delivery system. this captures the light and using fibre optics delivers it to where you want it musing the fensnel lense to focus the sunlight throught the delivery system.
